This was sitting in my feed first thing this morning: Hasbro has decided to create an Easy-Bake Oven for boys. I wasn’t sure quite what to make of it. I mean a Hasbro Easy-Bake Oven for boys? Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s great of Hasbro to make options available for consumers. I’m just trying to see how this would play out. I am sure gay and lesbian parents are going to be excited about it. Could you see the mother of a straight family try to explain to her husband why their son has an Easy-Bake Oven? What would the father’s reaction be? Can you image the father making the purchase? Shopping with his buddies he says ‘hey, just gotta stop by Target and pick up an Easy-Bake Oven for m’ boy.”
From the looks of Hasbro’s website, they are going to have to dump the words “Cooking & Baking Games for Girls.”
Personally, I think I’m holding out for that Holly Hobbie Oven. Didn’t it used to come with a fabulous hat and apron?
