“Take that Trump,” says Maryland gubernatorial candidate Richard Madaleno as he locks lips with his husband, Mark Hodge, in his newly released political ad.
If there ever was a way to bring attention to your political campaign, Candidate Madaleno sure did find out a pretty good way.
But it wasn’t just attention to his campaign that the risktaker Madaleno was going for as reported in a lgbtqnation.com article.
“What’s the number one way I’ll piss off Donald Trump and the Republicans?” Madaleno asks the camera before kissing his husband. “Take that Trump!”
The courageous Madaleno stands firm in his political and ethical positions in life. And what is impressive about the Maryland gubernatorial candidate, is that he isn’t afraid to show it.
“At a time when political attacks by Trump and other Republicans are fueling so much hatred and division, we need to stand up for the people we love and to continue to confront harassment and discrimination against women, African Americans, immigrants, LGBT couples and so many more,” said Madaleno in an emailed statement.
“Having led the charge for marriage equality, achieving true equality and justice for all Marylanders will be my priority as Governor. June is LGBT Pride Month and I couldn’t think of a better time to release this ad. I am proud of my family, proud of my record of standing up for our progressive values and proud to be unflinching in standing up against hate. Love does truly trump hate.”
Whether candidate Madaleno’s bold yet loving political ad helps or harms his campaign, in the long run, is yet to be seen but one thing is for sure, he will always hold the place as the first gay candidate to bravely live out loud! And that alone is a win in our book here at KWIR Media.
We wish candidate Madaleno all the best with his family and in his Maryland gubernatorial race.
