MGM Resorts International is melting hearts with reworked timeless wedding songs that fit into the LGBTQ narrative.
On Thursday, April 5, 2018, MGM Resorts International announced the release of their (“Our”) Universal Love album. It’s a rewarding project of the mega hospitality, gaming, and entertainment company that prides itself on inclusion and love for all.
Pulled from MGM Resorts International webpage announcement of the new same-love album was an enduring message of equality from the company’s Chief Diversity & Corporate Social Responsibility Officer Phyllis James, “We believe projects like this will help all of us reach a point where seeing the world through the lens of people who happen to be different from us becomes natural and commonplace. It is an immense honor for MGM Resorts to spearhead this inspirational project which celebrates LGBTQ dimensions of the universal emotion of love.”
The romance album, Universal Love, has six songs in total — each being a lover’s melody that was once only written specifically for the heterosexual world’s interpretation. However, the songs’ pronouns have been reworded and re-recorded by the original songs’ participants.
One of the wonderful love songs on the Universal Love album that has been re-recorded for same-sex male love is the undeniably iconic song My Girl, which has been reworked by Bloc Party’s Kele Okereke as My Guy. Another recognizable recording artist on the newly released album is Valerie June with her song to the ladies Made About the Girl.
Universal Love is a diverse album of songs:
- HE’S FUNNY THAT WAY by BOB DYLAN
- AND THEN SHE KISSED ME by ST VINCENT
- MY GUY by KELE OKEREKE
- MAD ABOUT THE GIRL by VALERIE JUNE
- AND I LOVE HIM by BENJAMIN GIBBARD
- I NEED A WOMAN TO LOVE ME by KESHA
Universal Love is available today on all streaming platforms. To hear samples of each song visit www.universal-love.com.
