Netflix has released a new adult drag queen cartoon called Super Drags. And we’re all for it!
The new dragalicious show is about 3 department store workers who have to deal with their uptight, mean boss by day. But by night, they transform into superhero drag queens, “ready to combat shade and rescue the world’s glitter from the evil villains,” as shouted in the funny cartoon video trailer.
Netflix hasn’t released a lot of information about the drag animation, but the 3 superhero queens’ names are Lemon Chiffon, Cran’s Sapphire, and Crimson Scarlet. The 3 crime-fighting ladies will be voiced by Trixie Mattel, Shangela, Willam, and Ginger Minj, former RuPaul’s Drag Race contestants.
The Super Drags cartoon is a big step for the drag community. Not only are they being represented in a big bad way by debuting on one of the top streaming networks but they’ll also become part of a very popular animation genre that consists of Rick and Morty, Bojack Horseman, Big Mouth, and many more.
However, not everyone is excited about the fabulous new show, the Christian Film and Television Commission has made a Citizen Go Petition titled Help Us STOP Netflix Animated Transvestite Series! “The series is driven by a ‘politically correct’ transvestite agenda and it is chock-full of sexual innuendos that are completely inappropriate for young audiences,” said the Commission.
The petition currently has over 46,000 signatures and it only needs 50,000 to be sent to the CEO of Netflix. Lucky for our superhero divas, the petition is only bringing more attention to the show thus the show is growing in popularity.
Here at KWIR Media, we’re sure the fabulous superhero trio will curve the haters with their high heels on and bomb contour during its debut on Friday, November 9, 2018.
