In this issue of KWIR Magazine
The featured story is our interview with Brandon Straka, the founder of the #WalkAway movement. The #WalkAway movement was founded by Mr. Straka who is a former Democratic supporter and a member of the LGBTQ community who felt lied to and betrayed by the party he once affiliated with. His movement has grown from humble beginnings to nearly 200,000+ members and continues to grow. Their recent march on Washington D.C. demonstrated that his message is resonating with many people who feel as he does.
In our wide-ranging conversation, we touched on a myriad of topics from why he chose to leave the Democratic Party to what led to him forming and launching the #WalkAway movement and everything in between. No topic was taboo and our nearly 1-hour conversation revealed a complex and passionate individual.
The interview with Mr. Straka is largely unedited except for grammar and punctuation. In this era of hyper-editing content to support a particular narrative, we felt that it is important to allow you to hear Mr. Straka’s answers directly from him to you so that YOU can decide how you feel or what you think about what he has to say.
We know that this interview will be somewhat controversial, especially since it is in an LGBTQ publication, as well as our decision to make it our main feature and cover story, but like it or not Mr. Straka and his #WalkAway movement are here to stay. We hope that you will read the interview with an open mind and a curious interest that perhaps leaves you with a greater understanding of another point of view, whether you agree with him or not.
