Here’s a cool way to brighten up the same old pasta dish, make it pop with rainbow colors.
And you know what that means! Gay living, you’ll. The rainbow belongs to us ergo rainbow pasta was made for us. Ok, maybe we’re getting a little carried away with it but nonetheless, the bright rainbow colors do add a flair to the pasta dish.
It’s simple to make too. All you need is any type of pasta preferably regular pasta rather than whole-grain or whole-wheat pasta since you want the colors to pop. Also, red, blue, yellow, purple, and green food coloring and plastic ziplock bags.
Boil the pasta until cooked as usual. Keep in the pot while you put each food coloring in separate ziplock bags with some water. Then one at a time add an equal portion of pasta in a food coloring ziplock bag, mix well and strain out the water.
That’s all there is to it. Best Bites posted a video of the process from an In the Know video that makes it look simple and easy. Check out the Rainbow Pasta video below.
If you’re planning on serving the dish to children then you might want to consider using a healthy alternative to food coloring. We found on the Best Bites Rainbow Pasta post a comment made by a Connie Morinello who gives a great alternative to the colors.
“Oh please,” Morinello wrote, “don’t feed your kids food coloring. That stuff is so bad for their little bodies. Use beet juice for red, spinach for green, onion for yellow, etc.”
Granted, the comment doesn’t give an alternative to all the colors represented in the Rainbow Pasta but it’s a start to providing a healthy subsitute to a fun dish that is sure to spruce up your pasta appearance.
