Starbucks has a lot going on at the moment. Among efforts to resolve a restroom arrest incident resulting in claims of racial biases, the coffee cafe also promotes their new caffeine “refreshers,” Strawberry Acai and Berry Hibiscus.
Starbucks has been on a rocky road trying to revamp its image after two men of color were arrested for asking to use the restroom as nonpaying guests while waiting for a friend. The video of the incident was got on camera and went viral for all to see.
As an effort to stop something like that from ever occurring again at any one of their establishments, Starbucks has changed their paying-only customer restroom policy to an open-door approach in which all guest who frequent the establishment can use the restroom.
The global coffeehouse also will be closing down all their U.S. stores on Tuesday, May 29, 2018, to train employees on racial bias education and appropriate customer interaction. It’s the company’s way of making a true effort to address the problem.
The viral racial profiling drama hasn’t stopped the coffee giant from doing what it does best. In true Starbucks fashion, the company is exploring different ways to enjoy caffeine. Their new cold beverages are adding some color to the plain old cup of joe.
There are two new springtime caffeine drinks infused with fruit on the menu. Their crisp “Strawberry Acai Refresher” is mixed with passion fruit and their “Very Berry Hibiscus Refresher” infuses sweet blackberry with that tartness of hibiscus. Both caffeine fruit drinks are mixed with creamy coconut milk.
Hopefully, Starbucks’ nationwide closing for their upcoming training session gives the coffeehouses’ staff a new and respectful approach to all its guest so that patrons can get back to enjoying the morning joe that everyone has become so fond of in its years of operation.
