The 6th annual Stoli Key West Cocktail Classic is in full swing around the nation searching for the best gay bartender.
For the past 6 years, the vodka brand Stoli has been traveling across the United States hitting up gay bars from New York to California in search of local bartenders who capture their audiences’ hearts and taste buds.
Here’s how it works:
The Stoli crew governed by the uber fabulous Patrik Gallineaux who is a sight to see in and of himself, resembling a polished, colorful host character like that out of a scene from the movie Hunger Games, descends on a local gay hub inviting bartenders from the town to compete against one another in an elaborate setting.
Town locals attend the affair as an integral part of the competition while a 4 member lineup of city socialites mixed with celebrity judges engage the bartenders as they create their own signature drinks for them to sip and critic. Once every bartender has bid for the judges’ favor while the host with the most Gallineaux keeps the crowd hyped, the audience participation comes into play.
As a delightful yet necessary treat, a selected amount of audience members line up to try a sample of every bartenders’ concoction till they reach the moment of truth where they must make the decision, whose beverage they liked the most. The votes are tallied and one bartender reigns supreme, but for only that moment as the win is just a prerequisite to the ultimate competition, the Stoli Key West Cocktail Classic.
Every winning bartender is awarded a trip to Key West, Florida Pride for the chance to take home the big win — “it’s the world’s largest bartender competition and show!” Not only does the winner get bragging rights, they’re also awarded a hefty check to take back home and splurge on a local charity/non-profit. It’s a fun way to give back. To date, the annual competition has donated $55,000 in total to first and second place winners.
The Stoli Key West Cocktail Classic already kicked off on March 6, 2019, in Dallas Texas at the Round-Up Saloon and Dance Hall. Cheers to their very own Joshua “Joshua Cityy” Simmons as the first winner of 2019. On March 13, the Stoli Classic headed to Dayton, Ohio at
